Whatever

Hey,

So, it has been crazy here.  I’ve been working a ton, which is no big surprise.  Tonight, when I got on the highway to go home from work, it was utterly bare.  No cars in either direction.  Ahead of me was pure darkness, and behind me just the faint glow of my tail lights.  On the radio was “Stairway to Heaven”.  Kind of eerie.

I’m not here to complain about work.  I brought this on myself and I don’t even want to hear it anymore…  What I do want to mention is this.  I’m going to be in LA for a vacation in December.  December 15-21, as I recall.  I’m not sure of the times, I just ticketed it.

I’ll be in NY after that, until the 27th, and then back here-ish.

So, if you’re going to be in the neighborhood, lets get together!  Bonfires, playing with dogs, dancing, daydreaming, rubbing tummies.  All that fun stuff!  Can’t wait to see you!

The Gore

Filed under: General — TG @ 8:54 pm

Well, I had hoped that I could post the pictures from the race, along with the times. However, the race web site slacks even worse than I do, so here are the pictures…

This first picture is of my forearm, which managed to bleed through my sheen of mud, and actually stayed wet after the mud dried. I’m not sure why, but that seemed interesting to me. It doesn’t really look all that bad, though…

Xterra Injury

I took a few other shots of my left tricep, which was very well shredded, but none of them came out good. This next one of the roadrash on my calf is a good indication of what the whole side of my leg looked like… This road rash was less severe than what happened to my arm

Xterra Injury

Initially, I didn’t realize quite how badly I had messed up my shoulder. After some prodding, and continued pain, I decided to actually look up the mechanism of injury (MOI) for a shoulder separation. Turns out, I was right on one of the MOI’s, but the primary MOI matched what happened to me perfectly. That, and the fact that once the general swelling went down, it was apparent that my shoulder was pretty well deformed. Deformity is always bad. I still have a pronounced lump on my left collar bone, but it is no longer visible unless I’m topless, or in a tight t-shirt. Previously, it was apparent despite my shirt and jacket…
By my estimate, I had a class two shoulder separation. Yes, that is by my estimate, I didn’t see a doctor for it. The accepted remedy for a shoulder separation is sling, and ibuprofen. So, I kept off my shoulder and took lots of pills. It hurt for a while, but I was swimming (gently) within a week. I’m now up to twice a week again, and only with minor discomfort…

That is it for me… For now at least :)
